Critical Thinking is a movie based on a true story that highlights an unconventional activity as an equalizer or as an opportunity to do better. In this film, the premise revolves around one, Mr T who is a teacher at a presumably backwards school in Miami. In this school, the students are shown to be belonging to various disadvantaged backgrounds but unlike other “teacher in the hood” movies, this movie uses something as mellow as chess as a way of imparting traditional qualities of reformation to the students. The main protagonist i.e. the teacher in the hood in this film is an American - Cuban man who is himself aware of the needs and the disadvantages of the community.
